OUR STORY
The vision for this ministry began on a scouting trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas. Caleb was considering to assist a church plant in the area with a group of Christ followers from Kansas and Nebraska. While he was trying to discern the Lord’s call on his life he toured the area and decided to join an afternoon bible study in a store on the main drag to help him gauge the spiritual climate of the area. Little did Caleb know that this Bible Study would radically challenge him and change the course of his life from that day forward.
Caleb found a spot to sit down in that tiny run down store with only a handful of other people. After a long pause of awkward silence an elderly gentleman limped out of the back of the store and began to ask people to introduce themselves. When it came to Caleb, he told the man his story of considering to join a church plant with a few other people from the neighboring states. Caleb told those that were there that the group planting the church were risking everything and leaving security and stability behind. The silver haired teacher took a deep breath, praised the Lord, and said, “Boy, that there are some unusual soldiers.” It was in that moment that Caleb’s heart was branded with a calling.
Caleb later became frustrated that people taking big risks for God had become labeled “unusual” in today’s society. The more Caleb looked at the Christian culture the more he began to realize that it had a very comfortable, convenient, and calculative way about it.
Caleb’s heart is now branded with mission. He is on the prowl for the remnant, the dangerous few, the endangered species who are ready to live like the ancients and risk everything for Christ. Caleb has jumped off the cliff and given his life to being and raising up UNUSUAL SOLDIERS.
