SHREWD OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED IN THE BLACK HILLS!
Shrewd scenario training in effect.
The first week of June marked the first-ever Shrewd training event in the Black Hills, launching Unusual Soldiers' training program in our new location. This year, participants came from a wide range of backgrounds, including former military personnel, recent high school graduates, missionaries, and seasoned ministry leaders.
Throughout the training, participants learned how to prepare for ministry in dangerous places for the sake of Jesus' name. They received instruction on securely using technology, evading and escaping hostile situations, working effectively as a team, and remaining steadfast in their faith under pressure.
The training combined classroom instruction from experienced SERE specialists and former military personnel with realistic mock scenarios. At its core, Shrewd asks one important question: Is Jesus worth it? Shrewd equips those whom God has called to go by providing practical training, biblical encouragement, and the skills needed to serve faithfully and wisely in dark, dangerous, and difficult places. The goal is not simply to inspire people to go—it is to help them go prepared.
As Jesus said in Matthew 10:16: "Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves."
Shrewd exists to help believers answer that call with wisdom, courage, and readiness.
One participant reflected on their experience:
“Shrewd is a training that everyone should go through…and I mean everyone. The training gives you a tactical edge over the enemy and instills keen situational awareness, quiet confidence, and a peace of mind unlike any other training. As a leader of a team in any foreign country, in any capacity, your number one priority should be the safety and welfare of your people… and going through Shrewd gave me the tools and the confidence to go anywhere in the world God calls me. I know with the training I have received that I can worry less, plan more, and focus on God the most. Praise God, and go get Shrewd.” -Mack (Shrewd Participant, Former Military)”
